Volunteer

A variety of  opportunities for people of all ages are available to those willing to donate their time to provide library services and support.  Over 380 hours were logged by volunteers last year.  If interested the Outreach Coordinator  may be contacted by e-mail mwhitehair@abilenelibrary.org or call 263-3082.

The library currently needs Books on Wheels volunteers.

 Description: 

The volunteer will pick up  a cart with books prepared by the Outreach Coordinator and drive to the site.  A preprinted spreadsheet will be used to check  materials in and out.  The books are then returned to the library.  The volunteer should expect about an hour per visit.

Qualifications: 

The volunteer must have a valid driver’s license and have the ability to comfortably lift at least ten pounds.

One volunteer is needed deliver books every other Thursday at 10:00 a.m. to Brown Memorial Home.

One or two volunteers are needed to deliver books to Countryside every other Friday at 10:00 a.m.

One or two volunteers are needed to deliver books to Abilene Plaza Apartments every other Friday at 1:30 p.m.

Back up Books on Wheels Volunteers are needed as well.
